Istanbul Kültür University was founded by the Kültür Education Foundation in 1997. It is one of the oldest private educational institutions in Turkey.

The university has four campuses with a total area of 127,966 square meters. All four campuses are located near metro stations and public transportation.

The main campus, located in the Ataköy district near Atatürk International Airport and a 5-minute walk from public transportation, houses the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Design, and the Graduate Institute.
